2205 Duplex Steel Pipe Introduction

Duplex stainless steel pipe is a kind of stainless steel material made of a combination of austenite and ferrite two organizations, with excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. This stainless steel pipe is characterized by austenite and ferrite each accounted for about 50%, so both the advantages of the two.

It can be categorized by manufacturing method:

seamless tube: Integral seamless manufacturing, suitable for withstanding high pressure, high temperature or special material requirements of the environment.
welded pipe: Made by welding method, it is less costly and suitable for environments with general pressure and temperature.

Excellent corrosion resistance

Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, 2205 duplex tubes have much higher corrosion resistance than standard austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316. It performs particularly well in chloride-containing and seawater environments.

The yield strength of 2205 duplex steel pipe is about 250MPa, which is twice as high as ordinary austenitic stainless steel, so it can be designed to reduce the wall thickness and weight, thus reducing the cost.

Good welding properties

2205 duplex steel pipe has good welding performance and does not require preheating or post heat treatment. However, in order to maintain its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, it should be properly heat treated after welding.

Good impact resistance
