2205 Duplex Steel Pipe Introduction
Duplex stainless steel pipe is a kind of stainless steel material made of a combination of austenite and ferrite two organizations, with excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. This stainless steel pipe is characterized by austenite and ferrite each accounted for about 50%, so both the advantages of the two.
It can be categorized by manufacturing method:
- seamless tube: Integral seamless manufacturing, suitable for withstanding high pressure, high temperature or special material requirements of the environment.
- welded pipe: Made by welding method, it is less costly and suitable for environments with general pressure and temperature.
2205 Duplex Steel Pipe Classified by Shape
- round tube: This is the most common shape and is widely used in fluid transfer systems, building structures and a variety of mechanical equipment.
- square tube: It has good bearing capacity and stability and is commonly used in building structures, window and door manufacturing and certain mechanical components.
- rectangular: Similar to square tubing, but more appropriate in applications where specific proportional dimensions are required, such as furniture manufacturing and architectural upholstery.
- Oval and flat tubes: These special shapes of tubing are often used in specific decorative or structural designs.

2205 Stainless Steel Pipe Advantages
Excellent corrosion resistance
Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, 2205 duplex tubes have much higher corrosion resistance than standard austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316. It performs particularly well in chloride-containing and seawater environments.
high strength
The yield strength of 2205 duplex steel pipe is about 250MPa, which is twice as high as ordinary austenitic stainless steel, so it can be designed to reduce the wall thickness and weight, thus reducing the cost.
Good welding properties
2205 duplex steel pipe has good welding performance and does not require preheating or post heat treatment. However, in order to maintain its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, it should be properly heat treated after welding.
Good impact resistance
The duplex structure provides higher strength and toughness. The ferrite phase provides good impact resistance, while the austenite phase provides higher ductility and toughness.2205 Duplex Steel Tubes maintain good impact resistance at low temperatures.
2205 Duplex Steel Pipe Classified by Application
- Structural Tube: It is mainly used in building and mechanical structures and does not place particularly high demands on the corrosion resistance of the material.
- decorative tube: Usually used in architectural decoration or furniture manufacturing, the appearance is more demanding and the surface finish is finer.
- fluid duct: Used for conveying liquids, gases or other fluids with high requirements for inner wall smoothness and corrosion resistance.
- boiler tube: Used in the manufacture of high-pressure parts for boilers, which must withstand high temperatures and pressures.

Application Areas
Duplex Stainless Steel is widely used in several applications due to its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The following are some of the major applications of Duplex Stainless Steel:
