2205 duplex steel plate introduction
2205 duplex stainless steel plate is a high-strength, high corrosion-resistant, high-quality stainless steel material composed of 22% of chromium, 5% of nickel and 3% of molybdenum. Its duplex structure combines austenitic and ferritic stainless steel properties, making it widely used in fields such as offshore engineering, oil and gas, chemicals, food processing, and building structures.2205 stainless steel plate is able to perform well in environments that contain chlorine ions and high pressures, making it an ideal choice for a variety of demanding application scenarios.

2205 stainless steel plate advantages
Excellent corrosion resistance
Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, 2205 duplex steel has much higher corrosion resistance than standard austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316. It performs particularly well in chloride-containing and seawater environments.
high strength
The yield strength of 2205 duplex steel is about 250MPa, which is twice as high as ordinary austenitic stainless steel, so it can be designed to reduce wall thickness and weight, thus reducing costs.
Good welding properties
2205 duplex steel has good welding properties and does not require preheating or post heat treatment. However, in order to maintain its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, it should be properly heat treated after welding.
Good impact resistance
The duplex structure provides higher strength and toughness. The ferrite phase provides good impact resistance, while the austenite phase provides higher ductility and toughness.2205 Duplex steel maintains good impact resistance at low temperatures.
Precautions for use
- soldered: Care should be taken to control the heat input during welding to avoid precipitation of deleterious phases in the heat-affected zone (HAZ), which may affect the material properties.
- hot treatment (e.g. of metal): Appropriate heat treatment (e.g. solution treatment) is required after welding to restore its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

Application Areas
Duplex Stainless Steel is widely used in several applications due to its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The following are some of the major applications of Duplex Stainless Steel:
