2205 Duplex Steel Strip Introduction
2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Strip is a thin and long metal material made from 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel, which combines the advantages of austenite and ferrite to provide excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Strip is widely used in a variety of industrial and architectural applications due to its unique properties, especially in environments that require high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Strip is used in a wide variety of industrial and architectural applications due to its unique properties, especially in environments that require high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.
2205 duplex steel strip main features
- high strength: 2205 duplex strip has much higher yield and tensile strengths than traditional 304 or 316 stainless steel, which allows it to be used at thinner thicknesses without sacrificing structural integrity.
- Excellent corrosion resistance: Corrosion resistance, especially to chlorides, enables a wide range of applications in highly corrosive environments such as marine environments, chemicals and offshore platforms.
- Good welding properties: Although the welding of 2205 duplex steel requires attention to the choice of material and welding technology, but overall it has good welding performance and is suitable for the manufacture of complex structures.
- Stress corrosion cracking resistance: In chlorine-containing environments, 2205 duplex steel offers effective resistance to stress corrosion cracking that is unmatched by many other stainless steels.

2205 Stainless Steel Strip Advantages
Excellent corrosion resistance
Due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, 2205 duplex strip has much higher corrosion resistance than standard austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316. It performs particularly well in chloride-containing and seawater environments.
high strength
The yield strength of 2205 duplex steel strip is about 250MPa, which is twice as high as ordinary austenitic stainless steel, so it can be designed to reduce the wall thickness and weight, thus reducing the cost.
Good welding properties
2205 Duplex Steel Strip has good welding properties and does not require preheating or post heat treatment. However, in order to maintain its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, it should be properly heat treated after welding.
Good impact resistance
The duplex structure provides higher strength and toughness. The ferrite phase provides good impact resistance, while the austenite phase provides higher ductility and toughness.2205 dual-phase steel strip maintains good impact resistance at low temperatures.
Machining and installation
- Processing Note: 2205 Duplex Steel Strip will be harder when cold worked and requires the use of appropriate tools and techniques. Hot working should be carried out at the correct temperature range to maintain the duplex microstructure and mechanical properties of the material.
- Welding technology: Suitable filler materials and shielding gases need to be used when welding to avoid embrittlement in the heat affected zone. Low heat input welding methods such as TIG or MIG are recommended.

Application Areas
Duplex Stainless Steel is widely used in several applications due to its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The following are some of the major applications of Duplex Stainless Steel:
